Overweight

If you weigh too much in relation to your height, this is a health risk. A method that is commonly used for measuring whether a person is overweight is the Body Mass Index (BMI). A BMI score of more than 25 indicates that a person is overweight, while a BMI of more than 30 indicates obesity. The amount of abdominal fat and fat around the organs is also significant. This fat appears to be responsible in particular for the secretion of hormones with an impact on energy balance, blood pressure and the occurrence of inflammation, amongst other things. A healthy waist measurement for women is less than 80 cm, while for men it is less than 94 cm. Systematically changing your diet can help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight and a healthy waist measurement.
