Ventilation

By ventilating our homes sufficiently, it is possible to reduce exposure to radon. Radon is a radioactive noble gas that is found in many building materials, such as bricks, natural stone and cement. As a result, the concentration of radon can build up in homes, but you can reduce your exposure to radon by ensuring sufficient ventilation.

Radon is naturally present in the earth’s crust and atmosphere. This means that everyone is exposed to it to a greater or lesser extent. The average concentration of radon in Dutch homes is low in comparison with other European countries.

Radon and your health

There are health effects associated with exposure to radon.

In addition, an iGene Passport provides you with information on what else you can do to reduce any risks. Here we focus on behaviour that will help you maximise the benefits to your health. In the publication below you can read more about what iGene can do for you.
